La partita successiva a quella di Santo Stefano sta diventando per gli Hoops un appuntamento fisso con il Watford visto che per il secondo anno consecutivo li incontreremo in quella che sarà l’ultima partita dell’anno.Lo scorso anno, il 29 dicembre 2007, li abbiamo affrontati in trasferta, loro erano primi in classifica e noi, guidati da De Canio, ci imponemmo con un perentorio 2-4 in una delle nostre migliori gare sotto la guida del tecnico italiano.
Quest’anno li incontreremo invece domenica 28 dicembre, al Loftus Road (calcio d’inizio alle 15.00 locali), scendendo in campo noi col favore del pronostico.
Infatti gli Hornets, dopo aver perso il treno per la Premier lo scorso anno ai play-off contro l’Hull City, quest’anno sono reduci da un brutto inizio di stagione che li vede attualmente relegati al 19° posto in classifica con soli 26 punti, 11 meno di noi.
Ma la partita che ci aspetta sarà tutt’altro che facile, considerando il fatto che abbiamo incontrato il Watford il 22 novembre scorso, nella prima partita sotto la guida di Paulo Sousa, e che il risultato è stato un cocente 3-0 per loro.
Da allora per i nostri avversari solo due vittorie e due pareggi in sette gare, mentre per noi tre vittorie, altrettanti pareggi ed una sconfitta.
Per continuare a rimanere aggrappati alla zona play-off, oggi distante 3 soli punti, dobbiamo però assolutamente vincere.
Paulo Sousa ha lasciato a riposo per questa partita alcuni giocatori chiave, come Mahon, Agyemang, Helguson ed Ephraim (questi ultimi due utilizzati solo a secondo tempo iniziato nella partita contro il Charlton). C’è quindi da sperare in un 11 iniziale per gli Hoops abbastanza fresco, reattivo e ben impostato.
Speriamo di concludere l’anno con una bella vittoria. Il 3-0 di novembre deve essere vendicato.
