E' felice del rinnovo di Derry anche Coach Warnock, che lo allenava al Crystal Palace e che lo ha portato ai Rangers: "Tony (Fernandes) è stato molto impressionato da Shaun fin dal suo arrivo al Club. Questo rinnovo è un ringraziamento per quanto ha fatto ed un atto di fiducia per quello che farà in futuro. Shaun vuole diventare allenatore alla fine della carriera con noi e visto che questo Club fa programmi a lungo termine sono certo che per lui ci sarà posto nel nostro staff".
A proposito di questo, chiosa Derry: "Non è un segreto che a fine carriera voglia intraprendere l'attività di coaching. Spero di avere l'opportunità di farlo in un club fantastico come questo".
Con questo rinnovo, il contratto di Derry scadrà nell'estate del 2013.
